Clean Room Filters-An Ultimate Buying Guide by Sunnyda.

Despite maintaining high cleanliness standards in a cleanroom, the air entering the cleanroom environment is still filtered.

The purpose of passing air through a filtration process is to ensure maximum prevention of contaminants entry through the cleanroom door.

Another major reason for installing Clean Room Filters is to pleat the media during the manufacturing process.

Pleating helps the air passing through the filter to get streamline and move in a jet stream.

As a result multiple jet streams collectively uniform a single column that moves uniformly from the filter face.

This article discusses the major properties and working of Clean Room Filters. It also mentions the details regarding their types and models.

What are Clean Room Filters?

Clean Room Filters are equipment that helps in trapping unnecessary particles in their fibers ultimately preventing their entry into the cleanroom via the operating room door.

Their three basic types are the pre-filters, the ULPA filters, and HEPA filters. Pre-filter refers to the primary filter majorly concerned with removing large-sized particles.

ULPA filter can remove particles that have a size equal to or higher than 0.12 microns.

Whereas a cleanroom HEPA filter can remove particles having a size equal to or higher than 0.3 microns. Both ULPA and HEPA filters are 99.999% efficient in their performance.

How Do Clean Room Filters Work?

Their construction involves randomly placed fibers that trap the foreign particles colliding with them.

When the air passes through them the contaminants get stuck to the fibers. Only specific-sized particles are allowed to cross.

What you must keep in mind is that Clean Room Filters are not involved in the killing of the germs invading the cleanroom.

The germs or other invading particles are kept as viable particles in the filter.

Later these trapped particles are removed by cleaning so filters must be changed frequently for ensuring maximum performance.

This is recommended for all Clean Room Filters suitable for IOS 1 to ISO 9 cleanroom.

Some Additional Tips to Follow:

  • Make sure to mount the Clean Room Filters on a steel surface having zinc or tin electroplating on it. This surface must be smooth and in an unpainted condition.
  • Use penetration tubes for passing cables through the mounting surface and the base of the filter for providing a complete RF seal for preventing bacterial entry through cleanroom sliding doors.
  • Make sure that the cable entry sizes and the standard filter terminal compartment are compatible for the installation.

What are the Maintenance Instructions for Clean Room Filters?

For the maintenance of your Clean Room Filters follow these instructions:

Keep a Daily Record:

This will help you keep a check on the performance of your filter. As a result, it will be easy for you to detect problems on time.

Solve Rising Problems Immediately:

Solving problems as soon as they are figured out is the best approach to save your filter from bigger damage.

Replace Damaged Parts:

If damaged parts remain in use, they cause more mechanical damage ultimately destroying the inside of the filter.

Test Occasionally:

Regular tests help you analyze the performance of your filter. You can compare it with the standard performances and figure out which parts need to be replaced.

Clean Regularly:

Cleaning your filter regularly is good to avoid the build-up of dirt. Dirt accumulation interrupts the performance and efficiency of the filter.

Use Specific Cleaning Agents Only:

Using the right cleaning agent is very important for the life and performance of your filter. So only use the compatible cleaning agent with your filter to increase its life, efficiency, durability, and performance.

What are the Problems Related to Clean Room Filters?

The major problems related to Clean Room Filters are listed below:

Build Up of Dirt and Dust:

When the cleanliness of the Clean Room Filters is neglected for a long time, dirt and dust start accumulating in them ultimately hindering their performance.

Mechanical Damage to the Filter:

In case the damaged filter parts are not replaced on time, they end up damaging the inside of the filter mechanically.

This affects the performance of your Clean Room Filters. As a result, bacteria may pass through your cleanroom door.

Reduced Performance and Speed:

Accumulation of dust and damage of filter components significantly contributes to a reduction in the performance and speed of the filter.

Insufficient Power Supply:

This might be due to the breakage of the wires carrying the power supply to the filter. So make sure that the wires are properly plugged in and crack-free for proper power supply.

Extra Workload:

Also, you must ensure that you are not putting an extra burden on your filter.

Select a suitable filter size that can meet your work demands whenever choosing the right filter for your application.

Conclusion.

Clean Room Filters can be a great help for controlling the entry of contaminants into the cleanroom.

They help maintain high hygienic standards of the cleanroom environment. As a result, there will be no interruption in the processes being carried out in your cleanroom.

The only thing is to keep your Clean Room Filters clean and well-maintained to ensure their high performance, durability, and efficiency. Always take care of their maintenance for ensuring maximum results of your cleanroom processes.
